Hello my name is Cole Curtis, I am currently a 17 year old junior attending Laguna Beach High School. I have maintained a 3.5 G.P.A and was recognized last year as an Academic All American by USA water polo. I started playing club water polo when I was nine years old, I have continuously played polo for the past eight years, and have participated in the Junior Olympics every year. When I was thirteen years old my club coach nominated me to train at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado. In my 9th and 10th grade years my high school coach awarded me offensive player of the year. This season I just played my first 18u season with SET Water Polo Club. For me, water polo is more than a sport. I enjoy the fast paced physical style of polo and the bonds that have been formed over the years with my teammates. Water polo fits well with my lifestyle, as many of my hobbies revolve around water including surfing, free diving, spear fishing, wake boarding and snorkeling. This winter I qualified to be a lifeguard for the City of Laguna Beach, and presently working as a lifeguard for the city. When I'm not in the pool or waves, I pursue creative interests such as photography, filmmaking and playing video games. Starting in 7th grade I became involved in preparing and serving food for our town’s homeless shelter. This service has helped me see not only is hard work important, but so is being compassionate and service oriented. All in all, I consider myself a hardworking student athlete and strive to accomplish my personal best in all activities. This is especially true when I am competing in my games. Above all, I consider myself a teamplayer, and when I score it’s not for my own recognition but for that of the entire team.
