Hello Coach!
Water polo has introduced me to my best friends and allowed me to learn from top level coaches. I have made Cadet and Youth ODP teams as a center defender due to my speed and long arms. As a freshman at Wilson I was the top scorer on the Fr/Soph team and was voted as the Impact Player of the Year.
During the lockdown I started an online training group for my teammates. We eventually transitioned to the ocean, practicing 3-4 times a week with inflatable goals. I transferred to Mater Dei in Fall of 2020 because Wilson was closed. I started training with Mater Dei in August and was quickly moved up to the varsity red practice group.
At SoCal my 16u black team won bronze in platinum division in JOs in 2021. I returned to Wilson for the 2021-2022 season and made Varsity. We won our league and progressed to the semifinals of CIF.
The pandemic was a struggle for me academically. I went from an A student to a C student. Online school was not for me, and I never really adjusted to hybrid learning at Mater Dei. Because I went to Mater Dei, I didnt have the option of converting grades during the pandemic to pass/no pass like students could at public school and my GPA took a big hit. Since returning to Wilson I have been working hard and getting back on track. I continue to take hard classes, and my grades are slowly improving.
As a college athlete I want to reach my full potential. I dream of a national title or playing in the Olympics, but mostly I just want to be a good teammate. I am a "old fashioned" type person, honest, faithful, and dedicated. I give 100% to my team and teammates. That is the kind of guy you get if you recruit me.
Thank you for your consideration
Sincerely,
Clinton Haltom
