[UPDATE: March 5, 2025]
I will be attending the Barcelona International Water Polo Academy (BIWPA) for 2025-2026, and reclassifying from the class of 2025 to the class of 2026. My program in Barcelona will allow me to play for both the BIWPA team and a Barcelona club team. I camped with BIWPA at Mt. SAC last August and learned a lot of skills from the coaches (Quim, Ferran, and Yuri), so training in Europe for a year will rapidly increase my development and help me reach my goals. I want to make an impact when I get to college and believe I will have a better chance to do so if I start college at age 19.
I am currently a 17-year-old, 12th grader at Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley, California. My strong work ethic defines me. I surf, swim, and play water polo year-round and have done so for the past four years. Additionally, I have a 4.15 GPA. I also coach San Francisco Water Polo Club 10U/12U athletes and recently founded a water polo program, One Team Water Polo, to teach swim techniques, fundamentals, and game strategy to young student athletes from minority populations in Marin County.
I regularly push past my physical limits in the pool and ask coaches for more practice time. I believe my “grinding mindset” directly contributed to being named 2022 Tam HS Most Improved, 2023 Tamalpais HS Co-captain, and 2024 Tamalpais HS Co-captain. My strengths are my endurance, quick recovery, and passing ability. I have a natural defensive mindset as I like to guard the best shooter and a team mindset as I like to assist. I predominantly play as an attacker.
I have grown a lot as an individual through this hard work and firmly believe it will help me achieve my goals: to pursue a science-related degree and to play water polo in college. I am grateful to Zac Monsees and Steve Lacy for their coaching support and to my parents for their guidance, and I am excited for the future. I look forward to contributing to a university both in and out of the pool.
