Hello to any future coaches or coaches who are interested in myself. My name is Moses Alvarez I am a junior at Palm Springs High School and I play water polo. I am currently 6'3 and 195 lb I am the varsity goalkeeper for our team. prior to me entering High School I was a swimmer I swam for a local team called the Palm Springs piranhas one day I was approached by the head coach of the high school water polo team and he asked me if I knew anything about water polo or if I was interested in playing in high school, at the time I had never heard of water polo so we were talking for a little bit and he told me that if I was interested to go join a club that he was running in Palm Desert called SET water polo so I joined and got a feel for what water polo was. So in my freshman year of high school I joined the team and I started off training as a field player and then in time my coaches had told me that they thought I would be better in the goal when we ran drills I was able to block some shots so I became the JV goalkeeper so the Highlight for my freshman year playing JV water polo was in our final games as the JV team we were in a tournament and we won 3rd place overall and I was so proud to be a part of that so then the next year I got a little bit more serious about water polo so I wanted to build some speed in my freshman year I did join the swim team and I was on varsity and I got faster so in the off season of water polo swim I joined a different Water Polo club in Palm Desert called Scorpions to train me a little bit more in goal into train me a little bit more in goal so by my sophomore year I was pretty good and I was fast so in my sophomore year I had three highlights of that season the first highlight being our last game of DEL we played La Quinta and unfortunately we did lose that game but that game was one of my all-time best because even though we lost after the game we were preparing to leave and my coaches were telling me that was an excellent game you played and some of the audience members came up to me and said that I had done an excellent job so I went to check the score card and I had made 30 Blocks that game the next highlight of that season was a few days after our JV team was going to do their tournament I originally planned just to tag along and support of the team I didn't expect to get any play time but just in case something happened I decided to bring my suit by the time we got there and my coaches had asked me if I would be okay playing A1 as a backup goalie just for fun and I have no problem with that the first day of the tournament went excellent then the next day our JV goalkeeper decided that he wanted to play field Midway through the tournament show my coaches asked me if I could step up and play the rest of the tournament and I told them yes. so the day went on and by the end of the tournament we had gotten first place so as the host of the tournament was handing out certificates they gave my coach a plaque and they told him to give it to the MVP of the team who the coach believed was working the hardest and most deserving of the plaque and my coach decided to give it to me at first I was reluctant to accept it because I felt bad taking it I hadn't played a single JV game that whole season and I saw that there were JV players that I thought were more deserving of it than me who played really hard but before I could even say if he was sure he wanted to give it to me because there were other people who had earned it the whole team looked at me as if they we're in agreement and said that I had earned it and I had thanked my coach and my team. The last highlight of my sophomore year was something that I was really proud of prior to me being on the varsity team Palm Springs High School had been going to CIF for the past 3 years so when we made it to CIF in my sophomore year I was so proud and happy because we were able to continue that tradition. As for my junior year it has been a whole different story due to covid-19 we would normally start practicing by the end of June but we weren't able to start practicing in our facility because of covid-19 so I did some research to see if there were any public pools open that me and my sister would be able to train at and I found Desert Hot Springs public pool so I texted my coaches and some teammates I asked my coaches for a list of sets that I could do and run and they sent back a list of stuff I could do and as for my teammates I had texted them if they wanted to come and train with me some of them said that they would but they never did which was unfortunate but that let me work on myself I trained my sister a little bit and we went every day on until about September 14th of 2020 because the city of Desert Hot Springs was shutting down the pool so we were back to square one when it came to training but my coach texted me that scorpions was up and running again and that I should sign up so I did and from September 14th to the end of November I went on Mondays and Wednesdays and by the end of November we were under the impression that our first game would be December 29th show from the end of November to this day I'm still training Mondays and Thursdays with the hope that we will be able to play by April of 2021 and if not that for at least to be able to have a normal season in Fall of 2021. With all that said that is my career in water polo in high school I am someone who's very dedicated to this Sport and would love to go to college and play for any team that would have me or any coaches who are interested please contact me.
