Sports have made me the man I am today. Specifically, water polo has become the focus of my athletic ability. Since I stopped competitive swim club in eighth grade, I have dedicated the past four years to playing water polo. I quickly combined my knowledge and ability in swimming and baseball to become a strong water polo player. While sports are important to me, I understand that my education and dedication to learning will allow me to continue my journey once I graduate from school. Yet, I did not always think this way. While I was at an international elementary and middle school - where I became fluent in Mandarin - I often found myself struggling in the classroom and with my peers. Sports helped me stay focused, and it helped me feel more relaxed and joyful. Today, I aspire to continue building on my knowledge about science, economics, and Mandarin in college and ultimately become a CEO or leader of a company one day.
I enjoy leading people. Over the past couple of years, I have served as the team captain for my varsity water polo team, team captain of varsity baseball, President of Honors Society, a member of the Student Life Advisory Committee, an Eagle Scout, Founder of a sports debate club, and more. Through these experiences, I have developed a leadership philosophy: "leadership depends on who you are leading."
My competitive nature keeps me dedicated to take all my experiences and become the most committed and skilled player in the water and the best student in my class. I desire to join a community where I can interact with like-minded students and become the best version of myself possible. Finally, I aspire to continue my water polo career and to continue to push myself both physically and mentally to become the best student-athlete I can be.
