In my family, higher education is highly valued and expected. Above that, I have always been expected to participate in team sports because team sports instill skills and traits that are necessary for a successful life that a classroom setting alone simply cannot offer. I played every sport you can think of between the ages of four and twelve. I enjoyed being active and part of a team, but it was not until I discovered water polo that I knew I found my passion. It challenged me more than any other sport had and the physical demands motivated me to work harder than ever before. The discipline for water polo transferred to all other aspects of my life and I found myself striving to do better than ever before in my studies as well. Water polo brought me a mental acuity that no other sport did. The sport demands strategy, communication, trust, and perseverance. I exercise these core values now in every task I take on. My work in the classroom is evidence of that. As a senior, I maintained honor roll, Varsity Water Polo, and a part time job. I am willing to take this tenacity to the college level. I am confident that I would be an asset to any college institution and water polo team. My drive, passion for water polo, and appreciation for higher education makes me an ideal candidate for any institution that strives to further cultivate these attributes in their student population.
