“It’s all about having compassion for your fellow humans” - My mom. Those are the words I grew up hearing every day. My mom would always emphasize the necessity of compassion, having human regard, being genuine, and showing respect. She and my dad taught me to hold these values close to my heart, making sure they were at the forefront of my actions while I was a child. Now, I’m a bit more grown up but still continue to cherish those values. They affect my everyday life. From getting in the water and playing to engaging in the classroom, I make sure that everyone around me knows I respect and have compassion for them.
It’s no different when I play water polo; however, my opponents will also see my focus and competitive drive. Whenever I am in the water, I make sure I am putting in my full effort into every stroke, move, and thought. I understand the value of putting in hard work and dedicating myself to something. During practices, I am usually the first one there and the last one to leave, getting extra reps in the water or just cleaning up. Working with my teammates means so much to me. I believe that creating strong connections with them and communicating well is vital to the team. A lot of my teammates that I have been playing with since I was eleven are now my best friends, which I truly believe gives us an advantage in and out of the water.
I hope I can join a team that shares my ideals. I will give 110% of myself as an athlete and a person.
