Discipline, character, dedication, and will power are characteristics I’ve learned from water polo and use every single day. I am looking to continue my water polo career into college and hopefully beyond. My love for the pool started out when I was 7 years old swimming on a local club team and competing at the national level. For water polo, I have had the opportunity to play at the national level for the Midwest Cadet Team. I was awarded the Nick Johnson award and that meant so much to me. I love the physicality, the awareness, precision, and the IQ the game requires to be a very successful player.
My dedication allows me to progress and learn at a tremendous rate and will always strive for the best. I work extremely hard to master fundamental techniques and I am always looking for progression to make each practice. I am always looking for new ways to enhance my skills and IQ.
Being from the Midwest, playing water polo at an elite level and being exposed to different styles of play is challenging. I study films from all around the world. I do not watch the film, I study it. Asking myself “how did that goal come to be?” Or “how did this player draw an exclusion?”. Studying and having access to all films is crucial towards my success and progression.
Being a high achieving student is very important to me. In the future I would love to continue water polo for the rest of my life by becoming a coach, and teaching everything I’m going to learn to others in years to come.
I feel as if I was born for this sport. I cannot describe in words how I feel about water polo, this is all I want to do. I want to become the best and always looking for the best of myself. Nothing will stop me from leaving everything I have in the pool every game and all of training.
