I started playing when I was 9, searching for a team sport, my grandfather had played and I had never been interested in the more common sports in my area like soccer and basketball. I had been swimming and being in the water had always felt natural. After the first fall season I kept coming back and my love for the support grew and I connected to a core team w my club. Today the sport is a priority for my time, I enjoy practices even when they are hard, team tournaments are a time to compete and if I have put everything out there even a loss doesn't feel too bad.
I am capable of adapting to new teams and finding where I can fit. I am always willing to learn from teammates and a new coach to figure out how I can better my play. My physical strength is also an asset to a team. Both in and out of the water I have taken on challenges that have taught me to push thru fatigue and obstacles that come up in games and practices. My sophomore year I had to take off my club season due to an injury (skull fracture and TBI), being away I noticed how much I missed the sport, being around my teammates to watch tournaments was enjoyable, but I missed my enjoyment of being in the water, winning games, the demands of a good practice and was grateful to be back.
I hope to play in college because I have put a decade of my time and energy into the sport and I would like to have it be a part of my college experience, to see if I can do more with the sport. I am aware playing at the college level will be more of a commitment than high school and will be a higher level of play than I have had so far, I look forward to the challenge.
