The first time I laced up my cleats, I knew softball would be my future. In October 2015, I broke my thumb in the championship game of our first tournament of the season. I did not let this keep me from softball, and I played the whole season with a cast. I went from a right-handed hitter to a lefty slapper, and later on, I learned to power hit. Becoming a slapper and going through a tough transition has taught me to be selfless and to work for the player next to me. I also like to compete in the classroom, and I plan to maintain a 4.0 GPA throughout high school and to major in Biology in college.
My high school team has brought me out of my comfort zone and that has made me an aggressive, better, bolder player on and off the field. Our first team trip to the state tournament was my 7th-grade year, and was one for the books! For the first time in 8 years, our high school team made it out of regionals and we placed 4th in the state. Being one of the youngest on the team, I've learned the value of leadership and work-ethic, and it was important to me to earn the respect of the girls much older than me and for them to see me as an impact player.
