Jack Lovejoy '24 Recruiting Profile

I have been playing softball as long as I can remember.  Softball has been my favorite pastime, and something I can put my confidence and worth in.  When people think of me, it's always, "The ginger who plays softball?"   It is a huge part of what makes me, me.  

I love all the time I get to spend with my teammates, I love the feeling of connections and family. I love that you need other people to succeed in this sport and you can't do everything on your own.  The feeling of community is something I never want to lose.  My teammates are my friends on and off the field and we support each other year round.

I have been on several travel teams with Midnight Suns Fastpitch Softball, where I was able to grow as a team leader. This hard work led to me being a starting Varsity player my freshman year of high school.  During the off season, I continued training and was a starting pitcher for our team during my sophomore year, helping lead the team to a second place finish at State.  For my junior year, I continued to be the starting Varsity pitcher for our team, and play my secondary position at third base.  I hope to continue training and leading during this upcoming senior year.

I've learned so much and grown because of softball. I have learned that leadership comes in all forms, from leading chants to putting your head down and leading by example. I have learned grit and determination that meant continuing to give 110% even if the score is not in our favor. I have learned to take constructive criticism and make changes needed to be successful. This has led into school work, where I maintain a 4.0 while taking honors and AP classes.

Softball has been a part of my life for years and I want to keep playing it for many more.
