Sarah Miranda '14 Recruiting Profile

My name is Sarah Miranda, and I am a senior at Verrado High School in Buckeye, Arizona. I live with my mom, dad, and 3 dogs in Goodyear, Arizona. My older brother attends college in Phoenix. I spend much of my time with my two families, my large close-knit Hispanic family and my Hammer family (my softball team!). Both of my families have instilled in me a love of softball and the confidence that I can do anything I set my mind to. I want to have a piece of the college experience. I want to establish a career, meet new people, and create life-long memories. It is my dream to become a journalist. Journalism is a career field where I can pursue my passion of writing and photography. They are the two things that has always been a good fit for me. Meeting new people and making life-long friends is also an important part of college for me. Without friends, a person doesn't get that true college experience. Friends become the foundation of the best memories a college can give you. I want softball to be part if my college experience. Softball is an amazing sport that I love to play. I have never been more dedicated to softball than I am now. Softball is more than a game. It's a integral part of my life. I practice 2-3 days a week, I condition at home, and I play tournaments 3-4 times a month. Sometimes I feel that I spend more time covered in dirt on a softball field than I do anywhere else. I am the captain of my club team, and I couldn't be happier with that position. I love leading my team, inspiring them when times get hard, and helping them when they start to flater. Being a leader had taught me to never give up, not mentally or physically. Whether playing the game or on the practice field, I put all my effort into it. My philosophy is the way you practice is the way you'll play. My dedication to softball is 100%. In conclusion, I believe I can be an asset to you and your program in all ways, academically, socially, and competitively. I have the family support to keep going, even when it gets tough. But most of all, I have the drive and the passion to succeed in the classroom and on the softball field.
