My name is Ashanti Thompson, I am a Senior attending North Canyon High school located in Phoenix, AZ and have been a starting varsity pitcher since my freshman year for the NCHS Rattlers. I have always been determined and inventive so I plan to use this to my advantage by majoring in film and minoring in English and creative writing. The goal of this statement is to express my desire to earn and deserve an opportunity to play softball at the college level. My father started my future love for softball when I was just 6 and since then it has given me so many valuable opportunities and appreciations. Softball has allowed me to feel skillful, resilient and give me countless positive role models to look up to. Overall my life long goal has to been to play college softball. I currently reside towards the west coast and would love to stay close to home; however, location is not of the utmost importance to me. I also am not too concerned with division level, as long as I can be part of a team that welcomes me, I am willing to be my determined self and put whatever it takes into becoming the best softball player that I can be. As a student-athlete, I completely understand how important academics and extracurriculars are. Since 7th grade, I have been taking all honors, AP and IB classes. On top of softball, I am also a multisport athlete. I started volleyball in middle school and it has helped me improve my athleticism and team-building skills needed for softball. On top of athletics and academics, I have been involved in Orchestra since 4th grade and currently sit as principal of the violas. I also have been chosen to play for the district honor orchestra every year since I was 12 years old. My father once told me a busy schedule will keep me focused on what I want to accomplish and while it has not been easy I have never been more certain about something in my life. Softball is a game of skill, focus, and determination all of which I have used to describe myself. Softball is filled with challenges and limit-pushing… but I guess that’s why I love it so much.
Thank you for taking the time to view my profile,
