Hello,
My name is Gigi Valenzuela and currently I attend Pacific Grove Middle School in Pacific Grove Ca. I currently am in 8th grade and looking forward to high school next fall. I have maintained a GPA of 4.0, currently enrolled in honors math and leadership. During my time at PGMS leadership has been the most insightful and helpful class in the sense of the skills I’m learning now are helping my everyday tasks and endeavors including softball. I currently play for the Salinas Enforcer’s 14U travel team where I am the team’s starting Center Fielder which was a new but exciting position for me this season. I learned CF really is the captain of the out field and thinking quickly was a fundamental skill I throughly progressed in this season as Center Fielder. This season I also earned the spot of lead batter and accomplished a goal of improving my base running IQ as well as my overall timing from home to first which is consistently under 3 seconds. My average overall timing around the bases is 11.5 seconds which. My favorite part of the game of softball is the mental aspect of learning and executing how to switch a play when needed and do it quickly. More importantly importantly knowing my team understands it as well. Being on the same team means many things and one of them is being in tune with your teammates and understanding plays. I have learned being on a team isn’t just about the roster but about how much a team works together and understands each other. Some of my best moments have been from the games we lost because as I’m learning in my leadership class self reflection on losses or failures is how to become a better teammate, player and individual. I used to think it was all about the win but the games that I made the most errors ended up being my biggest strengths as the season progressed. Our loses made us a better team as the season ended and attitude is everything. This season playing with Enforcers fall ball 2024 was probably the most successful for myself, not do to wins but due to the insight, lessons and knowledge I gained which has made me a better player. I started my softball journey three years ago playing for PG recreation team, then went on to play for a local club team Carmel Mavericks which I participated in local tournaments within the Monterey county. Joining Salinas Enforcer’s has allowed me to play in PGF ,AST, and NSA tournaments all over California and I’m excited for the upcoming spring season. My overall goal is to play in college, and I believe that my I will by continuing to be a player who is coachable, improving my leadership skills and more than anything truly wanting to play. My future goals are to continue my academics with high honors, try new experiences and opportunities in the softball program as well as run for ASB office in high school. I.will be attending Pacific Grove High School in the fall and my graduation year is 2029. Prospective colleges of interest are UCLA, Fresno State or starting at a community college and transferring into a D1 school as a junior. Thank you for taking the time to learn about me and I look forward to hearing about your different schools, approaches and opportunities your program offers.
began my journey with the Enforcers this past season. My strengths are my speed and ability to track the ball. I currently have been the lead batter for the Enforcers as well as the solid Center Fielder which I enjoy mainly due to I am quick in the outfield and I have been known to put run the ball when hitting. I look forward experiencing this journey with you and hopefully being in touch.
