Hello! My name is Jenna Jensen. I am currently a senior at Palm Desert High School in the Palm Desert Health Academy and won MVP freshman and junior year on the JV softball team. Freshman year I was on the Junior Varsity team and I helped out the freshmen during league games and the Varsity during CIFs. I have been playing softball for over 12 years and plan on continuing softball for as long as I can. I play for my mom because she is my inspiration. She passed away in 2009 and I keep playing for her because I still feel connected to her when I play. I hear her cheering me on and I feel her presence holding my chin up. I can play any position needed. I excel as an infielder or catcher. I can pitch if needed. I have an 0.385 batting average and an 0.673 OBP. I love being on the same team or new team because I make an everlasting bond with my wide group of sisters. They are the family I never had. I have above a 3.5 GPA and love challenging myself with higher classes and expectations than some of my fellow peers. In my spare time, when I'm not training or playing, I used to volunteer at the local YMCA or animal shelter., until got hired at the YMCA as a camp counselor. I have always felt this need to give back like my mother taught me. I love working with children because I feel happy giving the future generation a good example of how to act and inspire them to find a passion and keep pushing to reach your goal. I plan on becoming a physician's assistant in pediatrics and registered nurse because I love helping people and mathematics and science have always grasped my attention. I love science so much I took Biology HP, Chemistry HP, and Physics CP. I also am enrolled in the Health Academy to broaden my intellectual span in the medical field. I am now in my third year of the Health Academy and it's been so much fun learning about the medical field. We have learned to take vitals signs and how to properly perform CPR in an emergency situation. We became CPR/First Aid certified junior year and I competed at a competition, SkillsUSa, in the health knowledge bowl and won gold at regionals and competed at state. Mr. Ron Paiz is the Health Academy director at PDHS and he is such an excellent teacher. I hope to play softball while getting a college degree for my needed requirements in R.N. and P.A. in pediatrics. My favorite professional baseball players are Mike Trout, Albert Pujols, Clayton Kershaw, Corey Seager, Joc Pederson, and Yunel Escobar. One of my inspirations is Jennie Finch because she played for the USA Softball team and she still hosts training camps to this day. In my spare time I work at my job or get really involved at my school. I plan to be a softball coach to help inspire future generations and to give them a goal they can strive to achieve.
