Personal Statement

Hey! My name is Ivana Gottwald and I've played soccer for ten years of my life and am not planning on quitting. I used to play center forward up until 7th grade when my coach decided to stick me in as center-back. Well, I fell in love with defending so now I'm and Center/Outside back and holding midfielder but I do thoroughly enjoy stepping out of my comfort zone and learning new positions. I am ambitious to connect with a coach and play for their program, I am mainly looking for D2 and D3 so that I can continue to focus on my education and plan a stable and successful life after I graduate. I want to play for a coach who believes in me and will push me to my limits and help me grow as a player and person. Feel free to give me a call or email so we can have a great chat! I always strive to be the best that I can be and I understand that I will need to overcome bumps and obstacles, but that is the best part. I have a very strong and determined mindset as I love overcoming problems and I do not let outside stimuli affect my goal at the moment. Whether I am having a bad day, practice or game, I make sure to remain as positive as I can so my teammates are not affected too much.  I want to go to a four-year university and earn a degree in Graphic Design or Digital Media; my hobbies are painting on canvases and murals, sketching, and photography which have helped me make a portfolio to submit to colleges. I want to be a main contributor to my soccer team and also explore many clubs, events, and activities my college will have to offer like the honors society and interactive clubs.

  • Played Right back, Right Midfield, and goalkeeper after our only keeper got a red card. Lost first game 1-0, tied the second and third game 1-1. My coach was very impressed with my ability to change positions in odd scenarios while still staying positive and with my efforts to encourage my teammates even though we were playing a player down.
  • Camp/Event
  • Phoenix Rising Showcase
  • 11/09/18 to 11/11/18
  • Lost first game 1-0. Lost second 2-0. Won third game 1-0 and I scored from a rebound off the goalie that I tapped in. These games were some of the first games our team played all together, so we were a little shaky and we did not have chemistry yet.

  • I guest played with Arsenal FC 03 ECNL team initially as a center back. One of our forwards got injured and had to come out to which we needed a sub to play forward. I offered as I used to play forward when I was little. I did not score, but the coach was impressed with my versatile skills as a defender and attacker.

  • Iber Cup Estoril
  • 7/01/18 to 7/07/18
  • Summer League team, Socal Select Girls 2003. Teams from South America, North America, Europe, and Australia joined together to compete for gold. Our team made it to semis, playing against France but we ended up losing to a corner kick around the last couple minutes of the game. 1-0 and France went on to win the tournament. We placed 4th out of 16 Teams, and I played center back every game, and never subbed out.
  • Camp/Event
  • Celtic Cup
  • 1/07/17 to 1/08/17
  • During this tournament, we played 6 games and won every single game. I played center back every game and never subbed out. I scored 5 goals and 4 of those were from free-kicks. We won the tournament in penalty kicks. I took the last penalty kick and scored meaning we won the game. Champions of Girls 2003.
