My name is Ashleigh Ronsse; I am an Junior (2026 Grad) at Poway High School in Poway, CA. My primary position is 3rd base, but I also play 1st base and any other position my team needs me to play. I currently play for Powersurge Walling 18U Gold under coach Steve Walling in San Diego, CA. I made Varsity as a freshman at Poway High School. In my freshman started at 3rd base 70% of the season including the San Diego CIF Championship game and the CIF California Regional State Championship game. We won both games and ended the season ranked #7 in California. Both of my parents went to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. I am the youngest of 3 in our family. In my sophomore season I started at 3rd base and batted in the middle of the lineup. Our team won the San Diego Open Division CIF Championship for the second year in a row. This was the first repeat champion in San Diego Open division history. I received the "Most Improved Player" award from my coaches. I ended up with 6 homeruns (Top 10 in San Diego Section) and batted .310 on the season.
The purpose of this statement is to express my desire and passion to pursue softball at the next level in college. Softball has been a major part of my life since I started playing T-Ball when I was six. I have made so many amazing friends along the way and have learned many life lessons. I have been blessed to have been trained by many great coaches over the years and can't wait to see where I will end up. I continue to work hard on my softball skills while keeping focused on my academics as well. I have learned that softball is a very tough sport and I have experienced many ups and downs through my years of playing. I have realized that lessons that I have learned in softball have helped me in many other parts of my life. I hope to keep benefiting from these life lessons that softball is teaching me as I drive toward my goal of playing in college while earning my degree.
In regard to softball I train with my Batbusters team twice a week and have games or tournaments on most weekends. I take hitting lessons from Lindsey Gorman at Dropping Bombs Hitting. I also visit the Batbusters training facility every week to take fielding lessons from Mike Stith (except during HS season). I do my strength and agility training at Symbiotic with Stanford hall of famer Dana Sorenson.
As a student I always do my best to succeed. Middle school was tough since almost my whole time in middle school was during COVID and taking classes from home. I have really enjoyed high school so far especially since it is in person. I played on the freshman volleyball team and had a great time playing a new sport and meeting new friends outside of softball. It is very important to me to balance my time between softball and other social activities. I really enjoy spending time with my friends and going to the beach or thrifting.
I look forward to continuing to develop as a scholar athlete during my high school career as I work toward my lifelong goal of playing softball in college. No matter what happens I am a better person because of my involvement in competitive softball.
