Jessica Hennelly '19 Recruiting Profile

My name is Jessica Hennelly, I’m a 6' softball athlete attending Sacramento’s Christian Brothers High School, class of 2019.  While playing softball year-round, I work hard to get good grades, volunteer in the community and spend time with friends and family.  I have always enjoyed Math and Science classes and will pursue a college degree that will allow me to serve others, ideally fellow athletes as a physical trainer/therapist. 

I began playing recreational softball when I was seven. In 2013, I began to play softball year round with the California Breeze, a highly successful competitive team. Last year as a Freshman, I was a Varsity starter on Christian Brothers' team under Chad Clay (http://www.cbathletics.org/coaches-directory). I played Sophomore-year Fall Ball as well. 

I love being an outfielder, but also play at First Base. While I have been told I have great skill, a strong arm, and natural ability to read the ball off the bat, I am always working to get more skilled and stronger. I take batting instruction with Jenae Leles (http://www.hrt-sports.com/instructors/jenae-leles.php), conditioning and strength from James Brown (http://www.californiabreeze.org/page/show/2073631-b-a-t-s), and work with my coaches on defensive skills. 

As a student at CB, I have been challenged to volunteer as much as possible. This summer I volunteer-worked at the Sacramento Zoo's kids camp 30 hours a week, I've made sandwiches with fellow students for homeless women,  picked and hauled fruit for the area food bank, and cleaned trash from area schools. I hope to attend a school and athletic program that continues similar work.
