Hi there! My name is Kayla Visser and I’m so glad you’re reading my profile. I’m a 5’4” 135lb catcher/utility from San Diego, California. I’ve always sought to be a team leader and am recognized as being coachable and a hard worker. I will graduate from Maranatha Christian Schools in 2023, and I’ve been a starting varsity softball player since my freshman year.
My priorities are my relationship with God, my family, school and then softball. That may sound strange on a sports profile, but I think having proper priorities helps me to be the person I want to be and find fulfillment in what I do. I have been playing softball since I was 7 years old (10 years now!) and it has become a large part of who I am. I love the game and I hope to continue my playing career in college while I become an engineer - maybe even an astronaut!
I think the most important part of playing this sport is being a good teammate, something I strive to do every time I step on the field. Being a good teammate means stepping up and supporting your team no matter what. A time I was proud of being a good teammate was my sophomore year high school season. I go to a small school, and we unfortunately didn’t have a pitcher. For my team, I learned how to pitch and went on to be the starting pitcher that year, the same year I received the Player of the Year award. I didn’t get to play catcher or outfield much that season, but I got to step up for my team and step out of my comfort zone. Pitching definitely isn't easy, but I knew I had to push on and help my team.
Thank you so much for reading my introduction! Have an awesome day and I hope to hear from you soon!
