I have played softball since I was 6 years old and have gone with my teams to win district and state championships and an appearance in the National Championships. I have played competitive travel softball with the Firecrackers Brashear-Duarte team during high school as well. In high school as a freshman I made the varsity softball team. I was very excited for this because my passion for softball could now contribute to my high school team. In the spring season and as a starting short stop, our varsity team won the league division and took 2nd place in the CIF championships. In my junior year, we were very proud to win the CIF championship.
Throughout the last four years I have taken challenging academic courses in the International Baccalaureate Program in Engineering and currently hold a 4.5 overall weighted grade point average, while playing two varsity sports of soccer and softball. This has been challenging, however it helped me to understand the importance of finding a balance between spending time on my sports, on my studies and also maintaining healthy relationships with my family and friends.
On my sports teams, I have learned about leadership, commitment and the importance of comradery and teamwork on the playing field. Throughout high school, I have worked hard to be a strong athletic leader on the field and an academic leader in the classroom and in school related functions. As a result, I am looking for a college program that will be a good fit for me both athletically and academically to prepare me for a challenging and rewarding career in Engineering. I believe I have the work-ethic, commitment and leadership skills to be a great fit for your program.
