Softball wasn't my first sport; I started by following my sister and doing dance for a while. I quit dancing after realizing that playing sports was my passion. After trying volleyball and basketball I found my way to softball by a friend's recommendation. This was an older age group but I still learned a lot during my first year playing and realized that softball was my true passion. At the end of that rec season, my coach recommended that I go to a "Round Robin" tournament. That is where my travel softball journey began. Playing this sport has taught me many skills to use on and off the field; some of those skills include leadership and my IQ for the sport.
With those qualities a major one that I use on and off the field is leadership. Off the field, I use that leadership and participate in Student Council and Special Olympics. I have participated in Student Council for about five years now and have served as a Unified Partner in Special Olympics for three years. On the field, I use my leadership skills to make people feel like they belong and am always there to help if anyone needs it. Along with being helpful, I am also a coachable person; I am always willing to learn with an open mind and take criticism where needed.
In the classroom, I work hard to keep my grades up and stay involved. I know that you can’t rely on sports to get you into college so focusing on my grades has become a very important aspect to me. When it comes to juggling academics and sports I am very good at managing my time and making sure I can get both done.
I want to go to a college where I can have fun and work hard to push myself in my schoolwork and softball. I want to get my degree in exercise science or marketing. I hope to be a great influence to my peers and others who may look up to me. I am open to all options when it comes to colleges as long as they have the major I want and would be a good fit for me.
