Emilia Davies '12 Recruiting Profile

My name is Emilia. I prefer Mia. This last year for club I did amazing, I couldn't wait until high school season, which began a week after club ended. I am a junior, and it was my first year at Chaparral. During our scrimage to get us ready for the season, I had 5 at bats and I batted a 1.000. The next five games I couldn't touch the ball. I had the worst slump I have ever had. It taught me to be patient, and not only worry about myself but also to keep others up as well. To have one girl that can't hit is bad enough. I wanted my team to succeed even though, at that moment I couldn't. I went to a batting coach and we went back to basics. After that I was back. 16 games later I finished the season with a .371. Through all of that my character grew. I was going through a rough patch but I kept my chin up and made sure my fielding didn't slump as well. I really hope that never happens again, and I am going to do everything I can to make sure it doesn't. I want to go to a college off the coast, with a team that knows how to play as a team, even if one player is in a slump. I want to play on a team that encourages everyone; a close team on and off the field. I want to play at a college that can show America something greater than just another sport. I want to play in order to show others that a team is more than just friends, but also a family. A family that encourages and believes in each other in good times and bad. A team that never gives up and competes to the very last play.
