Hello coaches! My name is Alana Ninteau. I've been playing softball since I was five years old and when I was twelve years old, I joined my first travel team. I started off playing at 3rd base, and moved over to 1st base about a year and a half ago. I could also be put in at right field, if my coaches needed to switch things up. As someone who used to be a bit shy, I learned how to socialize with teammates that were at first strangers to me. This prepared me for high school, where I knew there’d be more girls than I was used to. I’m not a straight A student, but I am an average A/B student that strives to do the best I can in school and in sports.
From when I first started playing softball to now, I’ve learned so much. Not only have I grown as an athlete, but also as a young woman. Playing softball has improved my confidence, athleticism, social skills, strength, and the ability of knowing what to do and when to do it. Without softball, I’m not sure where I’d be now. I enjoy playing softball and seeing myself get better during practices and games. In little league, I didn’t make the all star team because they didn’t see my potential, but I was the starting 2nd basemen on my high school varsity team as a freshman. On top of this, I’ve been doing indoor track in the winter to help condition for softball. I’ve proven to myself that hard work pays off, and I’ve shown myself that I am capable of doing whatever I put my mind to.
I wish to continue my love for softball in the future and I‘m hopeful that I will play in the bigger leagues. I'm a determined player who's always looking forward to improve and work hard to achieve my goals. If a coach is giving me feedback, I’ll listen and make the improvements. If I’m unsure of a play or what to do, I won’t hesitate to ask. If I don’t make the adjustments or if I have an error, I own it and move forward to correct that and show that I know how to play the game.
Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to read this short summary about my softball journey!
