Sydney Grund '24 Recruiting Profile

I began playing softball at eight years old.  I immediately fell in love with softball. My father has been a big part of my training and becoming a disciplined player. My father and mother always encouraged me to work hard and by working hard you will obtain the rewards. My academics are just as important to me as my sports. I strive day after day to do my best, whether its studying for an exam, adjusting my catching/fielding mechanics or swing. My family is very important to me, this includes my sports families. I have always treated my teammates as family, I believe a team is a family, you work together and create relationships that last forever. I am always encouraged to give one hundred percent to whatever I commit to. I currently play High School softball , as a freshman I started 16 out of our 20 games and was used in the other 4 games to pinch run or pinch hit. I recently joined the Diamond Zone of North Haven this past fall where they wanted me to bat leadoff which I had never done.  I had to change my mental approach to hitting in the lead off position vs hitting in the 5,6,7 position.  Once I changed my approach to hitting leadoff, I feel I became a much better hitter. I have built many relationships with all my coaches and trainers and always respect them and their advice. In college, my goals are to graduate with a successful GPA and strive to be the best athlete I can be.
