Hey my name is Corrine Butz! I have been playing softball since my second time in 3rd grade, and became a pitcher in 8th grade, which is my favorite position to play. I like to play softball, practice pitching, swim, sing, play saxophone, and hangout with friends and family during my free time. The most important detail about me that I want to share is that I've accomplished a lot throughout my life time. When I was 2 years old I went through Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH), which is when your immune system becomes hyperactive and starts attacking all your organs. This was treated with chemo and it damaged my left frontal lobe, which caused me to have partial complex seizures for 7 years (till I was 9). I was failing school and was in IEP classes until 3rd grade came around. Doctors figured out what's wrong and performed brain surgery removing part of my left frontal lobe. After brain surgery I have never had a seizure since, which has allowed me to progress from being in IEP classes to taking AP and Cambridge classes (highest form of class). Though, I did have to repeat 3rd grade since I was failing school when I had seizures. As of today I still have a few medical issues that I'm going to John Hopkins and several other hospitals for and we're almost there to finding out what's wrong and fixing it. As of today I lose vision everyday, just having little floats in the eyes for 2 seconds to 30 minutes the most. There's a couple of times per year where I lose full vision for the same amount of time. I also have breathing problems, chest pain, dizziness, and fainting everyday that doctors can't figure out yet, but they're working very hard on figuring out what all my medical problems are caused by. Even though I'm still going through all of this, it won't stop me from working hard in school and softball. All I care about is doing what I love and accomplishing new things. After I've gone through all of that, I really want to be a child psychiatrist, working for child services, or become a pediatric nurse most importantly. I want to help others, but mostly kids because I just want them to live a happy, normal childhood life that I didn't full on get. If I'm on your softball team I will always work hard to my best extent, and try new things even if it's out of my comfort zone. I just really want to be on a team since softball is my favorite thing to do to have fun, and relieves stress! I work very hard to get where I want to be in life(school and non-school), as well as work hard on softball to the best of my ability every day!
