I have loved the game of softball since I was 10 years old, playing many positions but falling in love with pitching and 1st base. I have worked hard to learn my positions, as well as the fundamentals of the other positions. I know that injuries happen, and I want to be prepared to play where I am needed. I have played in the outfield, catcher, pitcher, 1st base and second base. I consider myself a true utility player. I continue to work on my game knowledge as well as my skills with daily workouts, practices and or private lessons for pitching and hitting.
I am also a true switch hitter. I have enjoyed the challenge of learning to hit left. This has been a new experience for me and I'm working on strengthening this skill, but I have had great success thus far. Often time hitting triples and doubles when I bat left. I think that it is very important to learn as much about the game of softball.
I am a captain on my travel softball team. In this roll I feel that it is important to lead the team with encouragement and in example. Being a team leader is often times difficult, as not everyone will like the decisions that are made, but it is an important role that I have taken seriously. The leadership that I have on the field is also found in my academics. As a member of DECA, an entrepreneurship program, a Research Capstone student, and a member of National Honors Society, leadership on and off the field is something that I strive to show.
Outside of softball, you will typically find me with one of my many animals. Caring for those that can't speak out themselves is so important to me. All of my animals are rescues, and I wouldn't have it any other way. These guys have taught me so much about being a better person and caring for others.
I have enjoyed my high school career so far. Right now, as I'm writing this, we are in Covid-19 quarantine. I missed the last half of my sophomore year, but I consider myself very lucky. I have my family, I'm able to continue to work out and practice softball at home (though I do miss my teammates). I'm excited to get back to play, but I know that everyone is doing what is best for the citizens of the world. I'm very thankful for my parents who have worked hard to make sure that I have the tools to continue to pursue my dream of playing at the next level.
I hope that you will visit my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/baileyquire0104 to see videos and stats.
I hope to hear from you soon.
