Hello, my name is Kendall Beahan. Recently, in February 2021, I had shoulder surgery and have been in physical therapy ever since to get back on the field as soon as I can. I have been through injuries in my athletic career before, but this has been the hardest to overcome so far. While this has been a huge setback, it has motivated me to do all I can to recover and reach my goal of playing college softball.
I bat left handed, and have been proficient mainly slapping and bunting and to get on base since I have been young. My primary position is center-field, but am open to playing in left and right as well. I have been playing softball since I was 8 years old, and travel softball since I was about 10.
Softball has always driven me to be my best self and always pulled motivation out of me when I wasn't aware I had any left. This motivation carries to other aspects of my life, such as school. Being driven from a young age to want to play my best in sports has made me want to do the same academically. In 8th grade, I decided in high school I was going to push myself and strive for my AICE diploma by my senior year. I worked extremely hard and ended up finishing my AICE diploma by junior year, being an AICE diploma recipient as oppose to an AICE diploma candidate.
I enjoy the involvement I have in my school, being a Student Government representative, Co-President of Students Working Against Tobacco, and appreciate the opportunities of being involved in other clubs such as Girl's STEM and DOCK which both teach elementary school students in a fun and engaging way.
As I have been involved in academics, clubs, and sports throughout high school I have learned how to stay determined. It is hard to balance these different aspects of life, especially when unplanned obstacles are thrown at you, such as my father's cancer diagnosis and my shoulder surgery. Life can get difficult, and extremely overwhelming, but I have learned how to persevere. My positive attitude and drive were learned in softball. Over the years, after bad games, team break ups, and injuries, there have been times I have wanted to give up. However, my passion to continue playing softball to reach my goals kept me determined in all aspects of my life, and has taught me to be the best version of myself I can be.
