Emerson Gunkel '26 Recruiting Profile

My name is Emerson Gunkel and I am a 2026 graduate and my primary position is pitcher and I also play 1st base. I am a junior at Montverde Academy (FL) and this will be my 5th year playing varsity. As an 8th grader, we won District 7-3A Championship & I ended the 2022 season leading the State of Florida in Class 3A with an ERA of .485 & finished 8th in all classifications. I had a WHIP of .785 and I went 4-2 for the year. I appeared in 16 games, had 5 starts with 3 complete games. We made it to the State Semifinals in 2023 in 3A.

We won our 1st State Championship in school history in 2024. I have a 4-year Varsity ERA of 1.30, BAA of .194 and a Fielding % of .973.

I played several seasons in the Tennessee Mojo organization and we have since moved over to Texas Bombers Fastpitch. We are now Florida Bombers Gold Griffis/Gunkel. Through our 1st 2 events for fall 2024 (Ray Seymour Invitational & PGF Show Me the Money), I have 21 innings in the circle, 5 earned runs, 4 walks, 19 K’s with an ERA of 1.667 and a BAA of .230. We also recently finished up our Fall season at Montverde Academy playing Seminole State College & Lake Sumter State College: I went 3 innings, 2 hits, 1 earned run. 3 K’s with a 2.33 ERA and a BAA of .167.

I was also selected to play for Team Netherlands 18U last summer for the Triple Crown International Challenge. I pitched the 2nd most innings on the team, while helping Team Netherlands to their 1st wins in the event history.
