My name is Liberty Aspyn Shake and I am a 2024 graduate. I am a 17-year-old, 5’3’’ catcher. I am also a 1st baseman and 3rd baseman but I can play anywhere I am put. I started playing in 2017 when I was 10 because my family has been playing baseball for generations. I was the first girl in my family to want to play ball. My uncle, cousin, and grandfather were and still are catchers so you can say it is in my blood. Family is what drives me and that includes my sisters on the field. I would prefer to play for a team where my teammates are my best friends. That connection is the most important thing to me when it comes to this sport. There is nothing better when the connection to your teammates helps you make a play or win the game.
Academics play a huge part in my college experience. I have been working hard to maintain the best grades since I was in middle school. I am now in NHS and other extracurriculars in high school. I strive to be very versatile off and on the field. I am interested in many things including music, arts, skiing, and psychology and I believe this makes me different and unique compared to other girls.
Softball has taught me that being unique is one of the most essential things in life because if everyone on the field was the same then we could not make a play. In softball, everyone is different in what they do and the use of everyone’s strengths is how teams win. Softball also taught me I am stronger than I know, and I can be even stronger.
I consider myself to be very strong, emotionally and physically, hard-working, and very coachable. I will be a great addition to any team and community by being both a skilled athlete and a well-versed individual.
