Being a student-athlete has changed me into the person I am today. I am able to manage my time very wisely, and I know how to schedule on a day to day basis. I like to be challenged, and I would consider myself a hard worker. Failure is not an option for me, but I understand that failure also makes me grow stronger. Playing sports my whole life has really given me many opportunities to go down different paths and has shaped me into someone I am proud to be. I do not like to quit or give up on anything. I remember being a 10 or 11 years old and wanting to quit softball because I couldn't hang out with friends who did not play softball. My dad told me to stick the season out, and then I can make up my mind about not playing anymore. The season turned out to be the thing that saved my softball career. I had so much fun making friends with my teammates, and I realized I was still able to hang out with other people when I was not playing. That was the start of me realizing that softball was the sport I loved the most and quitting would just ruin chances I had to do something good with my life. Playing softball has lead me to create many new friendships, and it brought out the real me, competitive and relentless.
Covid-19 has brought a lot of thoughts to my mind. One thought was how quarantine would be a nice break because I went from basketball season and winter workouts for travel softball straight to high school softball. I now think the opposite. I would do anything to get back on the field and be with my team again. With high school season becoming officially canceled, I do not have the opportunity to play my best for all-conference for my second year in a row. I just hope we will be able to have a summer season this year, as it is important to me to be able to have colleges come out to watch me.
Aside from sports, I love to go on long car rides and explore new places. I am fascinated by science classes, I think it is interesting to learn about how chemicals react and how our bodies function. I plan on majoring in some sort of science, either biology or chemistry when I attend college.
