Gwen Shouse '25 Recruiting Profile

Hi! My name is Gwen Shouse and I go to Batavia high school in Illinois. I graduate in 2025 and I am 5’6’’ and weigh 125 lbs.  I play shortstop, second and center. My GPA is 3.8 out of 4.

For my travel league, I play mostly shortstop and sometimes second. 

I would consider myself a very competitive player. I’ve been competitive my whole life, especially when it comes to the game. I consider myself a very fast sprinter at 20-yard dash in 2.9 seconds and a 40-yard dash in 5.44 seconds. I always work hard outside of practices and games to make sure that I stay at my best.  After each game or tournament, I review my video footage and self-critique for areas of improvement. I practice daily even outside of team practice using a batting cage in my basement and tee and net outdoors.

In the summer I go to a field every day and hit off the tee and do grounders and pop ups with a friend for about an hour. I’ve also been on varsity the past 3 years now, and my sophomore and junior year I won both the all-conference award and academic all-conference award in the Dukane conference. I had the highest batting average of .338 and highest on base percentage of .423.

For both my high school and travel teams, I am seen as a leader. For my travel team, I lead my team with having a good attitude for the game, I always pick my teammates up and I make sure to have fun with them.

I have been the lead-off batter for any team that I have played for since I was 8 years old.  This is based on my speed, pitcher read, and hit placement.
