Personal Statement

  • My name is Brooke Keltner.  I am currently a junior (class of 2024) at Lockport Township High School located in Lockport, IL.  When I graduate from LTHS, I plan to attend college and major in Health Sciences or Pre-Dentistry.  The purpose of my personal statement is to express my desire, dedication and passion to pursue playing Women's Softball at the collegiate level.  Softball has connected me to so many people, new opportunities and challenges that it has truly become part of my life and routine.  I am not focused on deciding on what "Division" I want to play, I just know that I want to play on/for a competitive, motivated, hard working and fun team that shares this same passion.  With the help of my parents providing such a solid structure and support system at home, I am able to continue to push myself to grow my skillset on and off the field. I want to find a college environment that will support that culture as well.  Academics are my "day job" and ultimately why I will go to college, so that I can complete the schooling required to find a career.  I am an active individual and realize how fortunate I am to have the opportunity to pursue athletics as an outlet, enjoyment and growth tool.  Being part of a team helps to create lifelong bonds with others and requires effort, respect and teamwork.  Being a good teammate isn't just a given, it is worked at  and earned and a shared responsibility.  I continue to learn so many life lessons playing this sport and I welcome this continued challenge.  I believe it is important to be well-rounded, academically and athletically.  Softball is not an easy game, it is a game that demands physical strength and stamina in addition to good strategy and teamwork, that requires dedication, time, focus and precision.  Thank you for taking the time to read my profile.

Respectfully,

Brooke Keltner
