I am currently a freshman at Benedictine University in Springfield, IL. On October 23 of this year, the Board of Trustees decided that our school could not stand on its own, and it will be closing on May 31, 2015. The school will then only keep the non-traditional programs. I plan on finishing the year out at Benedictine and finishing the season with my team. After the 2014-2015 school year, I will have to find a new school to call home for the next 3 years.
I am 5’8”, and I play multiple positions. I'm mainly a catcher, and I have also played a lot of 3rd and 1st base. I am also a solid outfielder. My coaches at Benedictine plan on having me play a starting role on the team, most likely somewhere in the infield for the spring 2015 season. I have a strong work ethic and can be a leader on and off the field.
I have been playing travel softball since 2008, and I am now currently playing for the Morton Mystics. My team is a strong A team. We have won numerous tournaments and have placed in the top 3 at others. In high school softball I was the starting catcher for my junior varsity team my freshman and sophomore years and for the varsity team my junior and senior years.
While in high school, I took challenging classes including honors classes in both math and science. I graduated with a 3.67 grade point average and an ACT score of 26. I currently have an academic scholarship and an athletic scholarship to help pay for education. I am looking for a college that has a good reputation in Criminology/Criminal Justice. I am hoping to find a school that is in a large metropolitan area so that I can take advantage of a quality internship during my senior year of college.
If you can use a quality catcher that can play a variety of positions, and a student that will be a leader in the classroom and on the field, then I would love to talk to you about playing softball at your school.
