Keelin Barton '24 Recruiting Profile

I started playing softball when I was  5 years old and ever since I stepped on the diamond, I knew this was going to be something I wanted to do at a college level. If I had never joined, I wouldn't have learned that with just a little bit of hard work, I can do anything I put my mind to! When I was little, my dad was always my coach and now that he is no longer coaching, I've taken up being a hitting coach for a 7 year old and a 10 year old! I always loved seeing the game from both my perspective as a player and his perspective as a coach. Whenever a girl would tell him she didn't want to play a position or do a new drill, he would always remind me on the way home to never say no to a coach, even if I was being asked to do something new. One thing that sets me apart from the rest is I can adjust quickly and I'm a very coachable player. I always try to stay positive on, and off, the field by keeping my head up on an error, or letting my teammates know they're doing a good job. My favorite aspect of the game isn't winning or getting MVP, but rather those little things, like a good play or beating the ball to base by half a step. Most importantly, I love the friendships formed through the game. They'll always stand out from every other friendship I form because of the trust you have in your team.
