Personal Statement

I started playing softball when I was five years old. I remember being terrified the first time I stepped onto the field and not wanting to play; now, I never want to stop playing. I understand that playing at the collegiate level takes hard work, dedication and a love for the game. Even if I am not able to play softball in college, I would like to stay involved in softball and be a coach and try to pass on my love for the game to others.

I always strive to be the best, whether it’s in softball, basketball or school. I know I can’t always be the best, but I’ve learned that I can be the hardest worker and that’s what I try to be. I’m a team player. It’s not about nine individual softball players; it’s about one team. I’ve learned to set aside differences with teammates so that on the field we could work together. I would rather strikeout three times and win the game, then hit three home runs and lose the game.

In the classroom, I take my grades very seriously. I’m at the top of my class and maintain a high GPA and usually straight A’s. In school, I’m involved with math club, art club, yearbook and journalism. I attend a Catholic school that requires students to complete service hours; I love doing these service hours because it makes me feel like I’m helping my community.

I want to attend a college that I can call home. I’m open to all choices for college, but money will be a big factor. I would like to attend a college that can challenge me athletically and academically. I want to attend a college that will help me with my future and prepare me for the real world.
