Megan Beck '20 Recruiting Profile

I started playing softball on a local rec team in 3rd grade. After throwing my first pitch over the backstop fence, I decided I wanted to be a pitcher. My love of the game led me to try out for a travel team in 4th grade. I have played on a competitive travel team for seven years. One of my most memorable experiences is playing in the USSSA 12U World Series in Kansas City. As a team of small town Iowa girls, we finished 3rd out of 36 teams.

I have overcome a bump in the road each of my high school seasons. Prior to my 8th grade season, I had surgery on my left foot to remove a floating bone that was cutting into a tendon. Just before my freshman season, I developed a large, stubborn planter's wart on the bottom of my left foot making pitching a challenge. Four games into my sophomore season, I had an emergency appendectomy. My recovery kept me from accomplishing the goals I had set for myself for the season, but has made me more determined for this season.

Through these challenging experiences, I have bounced back with more desire and determination to be competitive each time I step on the field; to be a leader, and always be a positive teammate. I'm looking for a program that will be a good fit for me both academically and athletically.
