Hello, My name is Ava Hohenadel I am apart of the 2025 graduating class from Van Meter High School, I completed my freshman year with a 3.895 GPA and I completed my sophomore year with a 3.7. After High school I intend to major in Journalism, and Sports Marketing.
As long as I've played softball, I have wanted to play at the collegiate level. I strive to be a great teammate by lifting my teammates up after mistakes and bringing a positive attitude to the field. Even when we are losing, I feel it is important to still have fun and have a great attitude. Additionally, I blend with teammates fairly quickly and I get along with almost everyone I come across. As our team has added new teammates or guest players, I have worked hard to make them feel welcome and part of the team.
I work very hard at team practices and I always find a way to put extra work in, whether it's extra reps after practice or driving 3 hours to go see my hitting coach. I work just as hard in the classroom. After college, I plan to intern with a professional sports team as their social media manager, then travel around the world writing articles about foreign countries and other things along with publishing books.
During the 2021 Youth Softball Nationals tournament in Elizabethtown, KY, I was awarded All Star along with a fellow teammate. As part of being named an All Star, I was invited to participate in an All-American tournament and I was very grateful for the opportunity.
Softball isn't just a game. It's where I learned what family really means. Softball is my passion and it will continue to be for the rest of my life. Softball has taught me many life lessons by the amazing teammates and coaches I was surrounded by. I'm Ava Hohenadel and I am apart of the 2025 graduating class from Van Meter High School, I am a primary 1st basemen with a pitching background. I play for Central Iowa Riptide 18u travel team and I also play for my schools Varsity team.
As long as I've played softball I wanted to play at the collegiate level. I am a great teammate because I lift my teammates up after mistakes and I bring a positive attitude to the field. I like to have fun on the field and off of it. Even if we are losing I'm still having fun and have a great attitude. Not only am I a 1st basemen, but I also bring a big bat to the game. I so far have hit 25 homeruns. I'm great to rely on in high pressure situations when all we need is a base hit.
Softball to me isn't just a game it's where I learned what family really meant other than blood. Softball is my passion and it will continue to be for the rest of my life. Softball is where my personality was formed by the amazing people I was surrounded by, and where I found some of my forever friends.
As a softball player and a former pitcher I am used to working very hard at practice and putting in time outside of practices. I blend with teammates fairly quickly and I get along with almost everyone I come across.
