Layla Cochran '26 Recruiting Profile

Hello, my name is Layla Cochran. I am from Wetmore, Kansas and I am a junior at Jackson Heights High School. I have been playing softball (tee-ball for when I was younger) since I was 4. I've started on varsity both years of playing Highschool softball and have also played travel ball for many years. My primary position is Pitcher, but l am a utility player and am willing to play wherever I am needed in order to have a successful season or game. I have been batting third in the lineup for my high school team for the past two seasons, but will most likely bat 2nd in the lineup this season. I, and many others, would consider me a very motivated and dedicated student-athlete and teammate. I plan to continue to grow my education and softball skill in college. My educational goal is to go to become a NICU Nurse while my softball goal is to play D1 or D2 softball. I am a very hardworking athlete as well as someone who will be there for my teammates. I believe in being a team player and doing what is best for the team. A couple characteristics that really sets me apart from other athletes is that I'm never going to give up on my dreams and will do whatever it takes to get to that final goal. I am a selfless teammate, natural leader, and am very hardworking. I give 120% at all times and am always looking to grow and learn more about the game of softball.
