I am a catcher/third baseman with the goal of growing athletically, academically, and as a person through my college career. A little more than two years ago a foul tip broke my thumb; it was the subsequent six weeks on the bench that convinced me more than ever that I did not want my softball career to end following my high school years. That experience helped me to grown mentally stronger and more fearless as a softball player. The support of my coaches and family, whom I am very close to, have supported me and driven me every step of the way as I work daily to achieve my goal of continuing my softball career in college. Throughout my softball career I have been fiercely loyal to my team and teammates. My ten years behind the plate have taught me that I am stronger than I ever thought I could be, and have honed my leadership skills. Finally, my countless innings catching have presented me with many challenges that have been accepted and conquered.
When I continue my softball career in college, I am looking for an environment that allows me to balance my athletic pursuits and academic goals. It is my desire to study sports medicine so that I might continue working with athletes off and on the field, once my playing days are over. My high school career has been somewhat non traditional, I am attending a virtual high school through the Lawerence School district in Lawrence, Kansas. Virtual academics has taught me to be self motivated and very organized. As well, my high school experience has allowed me to effectively balance my education and softball. Ultimately my softball and education have complemented each other, both providing opportunities to learn, grow as a person and challenge myself to achieve greater goals.
