My name is Melisa Nelson, and I attend Paul Laurence Dunbar High school as an upcoming Junior where I have been a varsity starter for 3 consecutive years. I enjoy being a leader on and off the field, connecting with my teammates and having fun along the way. I love pitching because I control the pace of the game, I can take my time or I can rush the game along and the decision is in my hands. I aspire to be a collegiate athlete because I love the game and want to continue to get better. One thing I love to do every practice is learn something, whether it is a new way to grip my curveball or if it is a new play on the field. The game is always changing and I love that. I am an athlete who strives to pick up my teammates, in ways such as physically picking them up or going out the next inning and throwing up a 0 on the score board during defense. I go all out when it comes to softball, but I always make sure my grades come first. I have always had a responsibility on my part to keep up my grades. every year I strive to become a better pitcher than I was last year, perfecting one pitch year by year and eventually having many pitches I can go to at any time.
