My name is Emma Day and I am a student at Oak Forest Academy in Amite, Louisiana. I am a strong student, with a 3.8 GPA, and a member of the Senior Beta Club. As a Beta Club member, I have the opportunity to volunteer for various events at school, such as working gates for sporting events, reading to classes in the younger grades, and freshening up the campus every spring. I am a multi-sport athlete belonging to the softball, basketball, and track teams. Outside of school, I enjoy spending my weekends traveling all over the United States with my travel team, searching for the best competition out there. I love everything there is to love about team sports and strive to be the best teammate I can be. Being a part of multiple teams has taught me so many important life lessons. The most important lesson team sports have taught me is that IT’S NOT ABOUT ME. Team over self is what makes a good teammate.
As a 7th grader, during the 2019-2020 school year, I held the starting short stop position for the Varsity Lady Jackets of Oak Forest Academy. Being one of the youngest players on the field allowed me to observe others and decide for myself what kind of leader I wanted to be. In March of 2021 I was ranked by Extra Innings as 21st overall and 18th infielder of the 2025 graduating class. I credit that ranking to my hard work in the sport and my growing desire to be the best that I can be at everything that I do. Fast forward to today, I continue to grow as a leader, player, and teammate. Leading by example is of great value to the team atmosphere and I will always try to set the best example I can. I will always be the first player to begin working the field after a game and the last player out of the dugout after making sure it has been left clean. I give 100% to my teams and coaches and will always work hard to reach that team goal that we have set together.
My greatest desire is to continue my softball career after high school. The work ethic that I have learned will sustain me throughout my academic and athletic careers, as well as throughout life. If given the opportunity to tell all of my future teammates and coaches one thing, I would promise to give them my all, all of the time, sacrificing personal goals for team goals, to ensure team success.
