Sports have been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember. When I was younger, I participated in gymnastics, soccer, flag football, Girls on the Run, and basketball. At the high school level, I am now enjoying two new sports with cheer and track. However, my number one passion has always been softball.
I began playing little league when I was four and added in travel ball at the age of ten. My primary position is short stop, but I can play various infield and outfield positions as needed including RHP. I was the starting varsity short stop in my 8th grade season and received first team all-district. I also maintained the highest batting average on my team that year at 0.341.
Unfortunately, I suffered a complete tear of a ligament in my ankle in the first game of my freshman season and was out for nine weeks. I was very frustrated, but I tried my best to stay positive. My coach allowed me to take on a different role in the dugout. I assisted with keeping stats and helped to guide the infielders and base runners. In the last three games of the season, I was able to gradually return to play and go 5 for 8 at the plate. At end of the season, I was voted Top Lady Panther Leader by my team. As my sophomore season approaches, I have been chosen to be team captain alongside one of the seniors.
I work hard on my softball skills year-round. I pitch and bat several times a week at home and take hitting, fielding, and pitching lessons weekly. For the past three years, I have been attending sports performance training sessions weekly working on strength, speed, and agility. I have been playing competitive travel ball for five years. I am currently playing for Show Athletics. This summer my batting average was 0.324 and my fielding percentage was 1.000.
In the classroom, I study hard and am a straight A student. I have just begun an ACT prep class and plan to take it in December. I am currently Student Council Vice President and won Student of the Year in 8th grade. I volunteer in my community for bible schools and local youth sports, and I am also a team leader for a local Catholic teen retreat. I give 110% in everything I do and I look forward to finding a collegiate program that will help me live out my softball dreams.
