My name is Madelyn (Maddie) Dupuis. I am an upcoming senior at St. Joseph High School in Plaucheville, Louisiana. I am a member of Sr. Beta, candidate for student council president this upcoming school year, and varsity softball team where I have maintained a starting position as a pitcher since the 7th grade. During my free time, I enjoy playing softball with my travel ball team, Louisiana VooDoo, traveling all over various states. When not playing softball, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends! Several years ago, I started offering pitching lessons to younger athletes that wanted to start pitching. I also have an 8 year old niece I work with to assist her in pursuing her interest in softball. To know that other younger athletes have taken an interest in the game and desire to play because of watching me absolutely warms my heart!
As a member of varsity sports clubs, being conditioned is a huge factor. I attend my school's summer workout and always push myself to give every workout or sprint my all. As an underclassman, we are expected to bring out equipment and put it up as well. Throughout the years of watching my teammates that were older than me, I've grown to learn that just because you're a senior, it doesn't mean you can't help pick up or set up equipment. I plan to keep that mindset, and never think that I'm too old to help out with equipment or any other need our coach expresses.
Being that I attend such a small school, we have several 7th and 8th graders on our team, I try to set good examples for them by keeping a good positive attitude, giving 110% in everything I do, and giving them any advice that I see they may need.
Softball is a getaway for me, I love doing it! I aspire to play at the next level, and I plan to work hard to achieve my dreams!
I plan to attend college and continue to play the sport I love all while furthering my education. My goal is to become a psychiatrist one day. Mental health has taken a huge toll on todays society. It is important to me for everyone to recognize their own worth and understand their feelings, good and bad, and show them a way to work with those feelings to reveal a positive outcome.
