Rebecca Baldwin '11 Recruiting Profile

My name is Rebecca Baldwin. I am A 5'7 and 142 pound senior at Aberdeen High School. I have been playing softball for about 14 years of my life, and when I entered high school , I was the only freshman to play on the varsity level, and I have continued on that level through out high school here at Aberdeen. I am a catcher, that is my strongest position, due to the strength I have in my throw, arm speed, and my knowledge of the game from that position. My most important accomplishment came during my sophomore year when I was selected for the 2nd team Susquehanna Division., and when I received Most Valuable Player during my junior year. Another great accomplishment came during my little league season, when my all-star team received district 5 and Maryland state champs, and we were able  to go to the regional round up in Boston. I can offer your team my ability of being a leader. I was captain during my junior year and will be again this upcoming season. I have been in charge of leading our off season workouts and getting people up and ready for the seasons to come. I can give you hard work, I can give you 110% of what I have. I play above and beyond what I am capable of. I strive to succeed and I push myself in order to do so. I am one of the first people to get to our field and I am the last to leave, making sure everything is in order and neat for our next game. I have the determination to do whatever I want as long as I work for it. It has always been my dream to play in college and in the Olympics, but since they  softball was taken out, that may not happen. But I hope they put that back in. I have always wanted to travel around to different schools and get the experience of how other girls from other states play. I would love to go to a school down south, in Florida or so because its warm, and the softball programs are great, but due to financial circumstances I have decided to stay in Maryland. I would Love to go to the University Of Maryland College Park and play. Its far enough away to where my parents cant show up, and they are the top school for my major which is Criminology. Their athletics are also superb. I am open to all different kinds of schools. I do not have a preference. I just would like a school that has great athletics, has my major I want to pursue and a good environment. I have qualified for financial need. I have applied for the Fasfa already, and have qualified for financial assistance. My desired major is Criminology, I would like to become a criminal profiler. But since not all colleges have that I would also study, Sociology, or Criminal Dispute. But my number one choice is definitely Criminology. My goals are to play softball in college, whether it is at a D1 school or even D3 school. I want to play at a level of competitiveness I have not faced yet, and I know college softball can bring that. I want to make a lasting impact on a team, by leaving them something to remember me by, even if it is not for my athletic skills, but if it was just for my personality, or me being a leader. I just want to play college ball, and if I know I'll achieve that goal someday.
