My name is Ann Carsyn Belanger. I have been playing softball for about 10 years. I play shortstop, however I have experience at 2nd base as well as 3rd base. Softball is in my blood, and as I continue at a higher level of play, my drive and desire to play continue to grow. It is my goal to play competitive softball at an academically challenging college.
As the granddaughter of a major league baseball player, a baseball was put in my hand at an early age. Ball IQ was something that was imparted on me by my father as well as my uncle. I was blessed to have my father as my coach from 2012-2016. Our team, which started as an All Star level team in 2012 is currently 16 U B MD State Champions. His goal was to get us to play A ball, which I believe we will be reclassified for next season! Unfortunately, my dad lost his battle to prostate cancer in December 2016. He did not see me step on to the Varsity field, nor did he know the success our travel team met on the field this year. That has proved challenging, but I play with intention for him.
I am a rising sophomore at the McDonogh School in Owings Mills, Maryland. I take 2 honors classes, and a full academic schedule with two languages and play varsity volleyball and softball. I am also involved in Diversity 4 McDonogh, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and One Love clubs. I was recognized for achieving first honors this year. Additionally, I was the proud recipient of the the Jill Bearman Award, presented to an upperclassman who has demonstrated determination, enthusiasm, & courage in meeting the challenges of life and who has set an example for classmates, faculty & friends.
