My name is Ava Hurley. I am a 5'0 2nd basemen/ outfielder from Baltimore, Maryland. I graduate from Sparrows Point Highschool in 2023. I have been playing softball for 13 years and over the years it has become my main priority. Softball has helped me have an amazing relationship with my dad and have more respect for authority figures. Over the years softball has helped me academically because to play I had to have good grades especially in high school. I have always love having fun at practice and love to make people laugh but I know when it is time to get serious. I have been pushed by this sport and it has helped me overcome a lot of things because no matter what was happening in my personal life I could always let it go for the hours at practice. And hitting a ball is a great way to get out your frustration!
Academically I am looking for a college with an early education program. I love working with kids and think being a teacher would be a good fit for me. I remember having a lot of fun in elementary school and would love to help kids have the same experience I had. It was in elementary school where I was placed into the Gifted and Talented program. I continued with this program through middle school and highschool. I am now in all honors classes and am currently taking 2 AP classes but plan on taking more my junior year. I go to my highschool in their magnet program which is a specialized program that you test into. I am currently in the science program. Getting into this program was very important to me and it is a big accomplishment for me. I would like to stay closer to home but travel won't be a problem.
