My name is Kat Hioe. I am a 2020 grad. I have been playing softball for 10 years. I play for Deerfield Academy in the spring under coach Rebecca Sherburne and Valley Storm year-round under coach Bryon Fuller. My goal is to play college softball. I was elected a captain for Deerfield Softball as a junior for the 2019 season and as a senior for the 2020 season.
On the field, I am primarily an outfielder and first baseman, but I can pitch and play any other position besides catcher. I am hardworking and a strong competitor. I am fast to the ball and field my position well. One of my strongest tools is my ability to track down balls.
As a batter, my skills range from being a bunter to being a power hitter. I have been working hard to keep my bat barrel on the ball and push through the ball as long as possible. On base, I am very aggressive and alert.
In the classroom at Deerfield, I have earned honor roll my freshman winter and junior fall semesters. Math and science are my strongest subjects. I am interested in Biology and Medicine. Over the summer of 2019, I will intern at a local hospital working in different departments.
