Haley Gaffney '16 Recruiting Profile

My name is Haley Gaffney and I am a 5'8 first baseman entering my junior year in high school. I am a three sport athlete. Besides softball, I play varsity basketball and field hockey. I have been a starter on my high school's varsity softball team and have been selected to the conference all stars since my freshman year. This season (sophomore) I was chosen as captain of my varsity team and my college showcase team. I know that college softball is extremely competitive. I wanted to do something that would set me apart from everyone else. This past winter during my basketball season, I taught myself to throw left handed. I went to the batting cages and took 1,000 balls every day for about 2 months and started every game at first base for my varsity team. I am an honors student. I am a member of the National Junior Honors Society and I am a member of the RYLA youth leadership group. I am the mentoring director of the Junior Booster's Club. I am also the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) student ambassador. I intend to be on National Honor Society and continue contributing my leadership skills with other programs as well.
