Hi, my name is Carlee DeVries and I attend school at Jenison International Academy, class of 2023. I have played travel softball as a catcher, 3rd base and 1st base, for 8 years and love that I have had the opportunity to play with some amazing teammates. Last year, I played at Grand Rapids Flames where I had the privilege of playing up on both a 16U and 18U team. It was there that I learned how to work hard and have confidence in myself. My teammates were amazing and encouraged me through the entire season. It is that support that helped me end my season batting 1000 at an 18U tournament. I love the sport and love that I can use it to build friendships as well as learn how to manage my time and work as a team. I feel like I am a good candidate for college ball because I am coachable and willing to try anything. I love the game and love learning from others and use that to become a better player. I work hard and try to be encouraging. I have used my personal experience of being a younger player and needing encouragement while on the volleyball court as a team captain. I try to give my teammates the same support and encouragement that I have received. I think that is what being a good teammate and player is all about. I have a 3.8 GPA and hope to continue playing softball in college while pursuing a pre-med degree. Ultimately, I would love to be a Pediatric Surgeon and use my gifts and talents to help others. I hope to someday be able to travel abroad and practice medicine in areas of need.
Thank you for taking the time to review my profile. I look forward to hopefully meeting some of you and seeing what your softball programs have to offer.
