My first experience with softball is practicing with my older brothers. They are two and four years older than me, so I was the pesky little sister wanting to be involved. After many practices and games of watching on the sidelines, I joined my first T-Ball team at age four. Instantly, I loved the game and soon moved on to softball. The catcher’s position really caught my interest because it involves the whole field and being able to help lead my team to success.
I live in a small rural town in the country on a dirt road. I went to a parochial school until 7th grade and then transferred to the local public school (which has a fantastic softball team!). The greatness about softball is that I can pick up a ball and practice anywhere. I have 3 siblings that all enjoy playing ball, so it is nice to be able to have a practice partner at any time. The only downfall for where I live, is it’s hard to play softball outside in the winter. I have jokingly asked my parents to move to a warmer state so I can play softball outside all year round!
I enjoy being on a softball team because it becomes a second family for me. I love to help lead the team and build up my softball sisters. My teammates know me as the cheerleader to keep their spirits up and to help them stay confident at any time.
It is important to me to do the best I can academically in high school to assist me into attending a great university. I would love the chance to play softball for the university that suits my career choice academically. In college, I hope to study social work.
